If I get a Canadian Visa what will happen to my status as a New York State resident?

My boyfriend and I are going through the process of getting a sponsorship visa so I can live with him in Canada. I currently work and attend school just over the Niagara Falls border in New York. Once the process is over I am wondering what will happen to my cost of in state tuition and financial aid i receive for college.
