There are little black specks in my dog's fur. What is it?

I have a toy poodle and I just began noticing some black specks tangled in his fur. I don't think they're fleas since they don't move but I don't think they're flea dirt either since it doesn't turn red in contact with water. Does it immediately turn red in contact with water? My dog is medium sized (no particulat tace, she's a mix), with blonde fluffy hair (we've had it trimmed because of the summer) and i've noticed that she's got scabs all over her back and tail under all the fur she has. How to get glue out of Dog's fur?

My puppy was playing outside in my neighbors back yard and he got stuck in a "rat glue trap"... We've been trying to get the glue out of his hair but it won't come out and sticks to anyone who touches him. We've tried Dawn dishsoap and still nothing... Two half days in Niagara Falls, any idea of an itinerary?

Well, your best bet for doing any sort of attractions for Niagara Falls is purchasing an adventure pass. These can be bought at any information centre or attraction along the niagara parkway, or river road, the same street the falls is located on. This pass gives you the four main attractions to do and two days of transportation to do it. It will give you the two main attractions which are the maid of the mist boat and journey behind the falls. The boat ride of course takes you into the mist of the falls and is quite the view. Journey behind the falls, which is actually the attraction i work at gives you the view from both behind the falls in the man made tunnels and the view from beside the falls, and this is the only attraction that lets you do that. It makes a perfect view for pictures. The other attractions are Niagara's fury, the newest attractions which is a 4d simulator showing how the falls was created by taking you through the elements of it. There is rain, high winds and snow. Finally, the last attractions included in the pass is the White water walk. This gives you a breath-taking view of the whirlpool rapids. These are class 6 rapids which are actually considered illegal. The boardwalk takes you right beside and is also a beautiful nature walk. At this attraction you also see some of the daredevils that attempted the falls. As for accommodations, there are plenty along the parkway making the attractions more access able. These hotels may also give you valueble coupons for Clifton Hill which is also a sight to see filled with games and museums.

Is it legal to keep a wild caught turtle as pet in ontario?

I live in niagara region. I've been looking for a turtle in surrounding pet stores but couldn't find what I like. I eventually caught red ear sliders when fishing for carp and found a painted turtle right on the shore. I didn't keep them since they are too big. Personally speaking I love painted turtle but I browsed the official wildlife site and found out it's not legal to capture midland, western painted turtle. Honestly they look the same to me. How can i make my Albino female hamster STOP biting me!!!?!?!?

Well I have never thought of this until today...animals in the winter grow thicker fur and shed during the summer...is human hair the same...do we get thicker/more hair in the winter and thinner/less/lose hair in the summer? I would assume yes but I don't really know for sure.

Well heres the thing I'm not going to do that because it's weird & creepy and seems stalkerish like "I like you" seems like something someone says in a desperate attempt to get attention if you are hanging around a friend,or have a lover of some sorts it should be assumed that you do like them and they know. It's much better to say "Are you single would you like to go out sometimes?" than "I like you!" I would probably walk away from a person like that. If they said "They loved me." I'd run. I mean if you do say "I like you." it should be after you've known the person for a while so they won't think your some needy freak. I like you doesn't roll off the tongue it makes you feel nervous and anxious unless your with that person etc. If I saw a really hot guy I couldn't just walk up to him and say "I like you." I am glad to hear that you had 4 ferrets total and not just the 2 bonded ones. Ferrets become very bonded to each other and their owner. If Patches was bonded with the one you lost and not the other so much, it will be especially hard for him. I have had that problem before as well. As long as Patches has had his cage mates for a while I wouldn't be too worried. He will probably be depressed for a while. Just give him lots of attention and keep an eye on him.

Cat pulling out her fur?

Ok, so a female tuxedo cat who lives in Mesa, AZ, indoor/outdoor cat, and lives with 2 other female tuxedo cats, all indoor/outdoor. None of the other cats have any issues, and all are healthy and happy as could be. However, our dominant female, who is part Siamese, is pulling out the fur on her lower back. it is getting progressively worse. whenever she grooms herself, we find small clumps of fur strewn across the house. We treat her regularly for worms, since she is partly outdoors. None of the other cats have flees, so we know that is not what it is, and she has also had progressive weight loss. she is not due for her examination for several months, so I was wondering if anybody knew what is is that is bothering her, and if I can buy it over the counter? she has no obvious ailments besides thin fur on her back end, and inching up her torso. health ears, healthy gums, healthy eyes, healthy eating, pooling, and temper. any suggestions?

My first grey gerbil which was grey befor molting always had a white spot on his head and between his shoulders but now he's tuning all the way white... My other gerbil is an original golden tan color which fads to a creamy tan color on his belly but now he's loosing his tan and tuning to a cream color... Both are excellent trips, in fact, the one you don't choose this time should be the trip you take next time. The 8 day trip looks like it would be pretty busy and a lot of traveling while the 5 day trip does include some travel, but everything is a little closer together. If your driving from destination to destination, I would definitely take into account the gas prices when making your decision. I would choose the 5 day trip for that reason.

You should brush the dead hair out so the dog won't get matted. Double-coated dogs shed twice a year; spring and fall. Your dog may be losing the summer coat or it may be shedding in response to the longer hours of light and increased heat we artificially provide in our homes in the colder months, fooling the dog's system into thinking it is summer again. A good slicker type brush should do the job. Brush daily while the dog is shedding.

According to google maps, it'll take you 1 day, 5 hours to drive there. But that's just a rough estimate, it all depends on if you're taking major highways across, and driving highway speed, (not regular speed limit haha). You could probably cut a few hours here and there. If you're going to stop mid-way, it'll obviously take you longer.

Why do guys with really hairy arms/backs wear sleeveless shirts?

I know this question is really random, but I was wondering about this today. I work in retail and there are so many times where guys with extremely hairy arms and backs come in with sleeveless shirts for all the world to see. Black spots on my dog's fur?

My short-haired red Dachshund has always had an even coat. Now she has started to grow a black patch of hair next to her shoulder. I checked the skin under it, it is not black, its normal--just the hairs are black. I checked her fur as well and she doesn't seem to have ticks or fleas. What do i do if my horse has ticks?

Nobody owns Niagara Falls. The US/Canada border essentially runs through the middle of the Horseshoe Falls (the bigger of the 3 falls). As far as any profit is concerned, it is made by those business owners who own businesses on either side. The Canadian side is more developed because the view of the entire falls system is better from the Canadian side however there are attractions on the US side as well. The flow of water over the falls comes from Lake Erie, in the south, flowing down the Niagara River and over the brink of the Niagara Escarpment to the lower level of the Niagara River and on into Lake Ontario before it heads out the St. Laurence River to the Atlantic Ocean.

I believe they mean hot around the band where the hoof meets the fur - although that could also be caused by other things. I saw a foundered horse once, and it was pretty obvious - her legs were all swollen and she was in obvious pain. Founder can be caused by injury, but I think the most common and preventable cause is rich food. What you want to avoid is too much grain (and how much is too much wil depend on your horse and his particular needs), too much rich spring grass (when the grass is first coming in, I keep feeding my horses hay so they don't gorge on the grass right away) and definitely don't give them piles of grass clippings. Okay, I picked my 2 year old son, 4 year old daughter, and my 1 year old daughter up from their baby sitter's house. We stopped at McDonald's drive thru , ate, drank. We got back in the car and I decided to go to the mall. Eliza (4 y/o) wanted new shoes and a new shirt. So I thought what the heck, let's get 'em all some new clothes!! Well, I had a large drink at McDonald's and felt the need to pee on the ride there. I thought I could hold it. We ran into construction for as long as it took to get my kids asleep. I wasn't just going to turn around and go home now. We live like a 30 minute to an hour away. I waited in traffic and they opened the lanes. Finally I thought! I really felt the pee coming on! I woke the kids up while I was driving and had Eliza unbuckle the other 2. I knew I was about to pee on myself so I ran up to the entrance, thinking they had the bathrooms up there. Sadly for me, they were closed for cleaning. I heard Eliza "Mommy, I have to go potty!" Oh great, I thought. Both of us had to go. She said she couldn't hold it. There we were in the middle of the store both of us running, each pushing a stroller. If you asked me, it looked HILARIOUS! It wasn't though. I stopped. Eliza's eyes widened and she said: Uh oh! She had started to pee on herself. I said Hurry Eliza! Turn around go back to the car. We turned around, hoping I wouldn't humiliate myself. Oh great. I felt a little pee drop out. I started running full speed. I knew I couldn't just grab myself right there to keep it from coming out. There it was. I couldn't hold it any longer. The pee just flowed out of me like Niagara Falls! I had a hamster with these symptoms one time, and the vet told me that it looked like a skin fungal infection. They have shampoos that you can buy to get rid of it. Make SURE your baby doesn't have ANY bugs that you can see, but keep in mind, some parasites are too small to see. Keep an eye on the wound and the flaky spots, if it starts to spread, take him to the vet! He may just have dry skin, or the cut may just be trying to heal. If you notice it spreading or him scratching at it alot, this is usually the sign of a fungal infection (kind of like the mange) or a parasite problem. Just keep an eye on it! Make sure it doesn't spread and that he's not losing hair! Good luck!

Christians, why is being in a "flock" good?

I'v heard many many christians say they are part of their churches flock also say the lord is their Sheppard and so on. But do you guys actually take time to go back and think about what a flock actually is? Here's a definition of flock " A group of people under the leadership of one person, especially the members of a church." A flock just follows its leader blindly, even if its counter productive to the flock, but of course they dont realize this in most cases. If you look at a flock of sheep for example, the sheppard just leads them on until he can use them for his own ends. May it be using them for fur, items to trade, or dinner. I just want to know why a majority of you guys see being apart of a flock as something to be proud of and have pride in when its clearly not in your best interest in the long run.

What to do about a hurt baby rabbit?

I live out in the country and my cat attacked a baby rabbit. He tore tuffs of his fur and skin off his back, but I'm pretty sure no other damage has been done. He doesn't have any vital organ injuries. But the problem is, now that he has been touch by something/someone other than his mother, we cannot let him back into the wild. My favorites of your names is Alette with Anine running a close second. I like Aurelia for a girl but don't think Aurelis sounds terribly masculine. Fur loss and discoloration in pug?

I have a 10 year old black pug and recently his fur has been turning a lighter hue and coming off in massive clumps. It's not his whole coat, just random patches throughout - mainly near his rear legs and collar. This happened in the past when I used a new dog shampoo on him, but I have not bathed him myself or changed his diet in over a year. 2 fighter jets flew east near Buffalo, NY yesterday 6/26/11 at about 5:45pm. Where are they from or going?

I'm in Cheektowaga, NY, an eastern suburb of Buffalo, NY. By the time I saw them after thinking they didn't sound like typical jets flying overhead after taking off from Buffalo Niagara International, they were already 1/2 - 3/4 of a mile east of my position. They were about 2,000 feet up. From what I could tell, they looked like A10 Warthogs. They both seemed to have the large tail section and turbines mounted at the rear section of the fuselage near the tail. They weren't moving as if they were in a hurry (scrambling), but certainly were moving at a decent clip. I can't say for sure that these were indeed A10s, but at the time I saw them, that's what I thought they were. Any idea what air bases in the Northeast US have A10s or somewhat similar aircraft? I'm not finding much accurate information at the moment. We get the occasional C130 (Niagara Air Reserve Station) passing over, but very rarely do we get a fighter, let alone 2, zipping through our airspace.

If you feel he is overheating make sure you have an appropriate spot of shade at all hours to protect him from the sun, also make sure its not closed in so if its windy he can have a breeze. Help! My Uncle's Farm Cat had some Kittens two days ago?

Firstly.... AWWWWWWWWWEEESSS. Ok now that I got that out.. lol... It takes at least 8-10 days for kittens to open their eyes, I think mine started to open theirs around day 5 and they were fully opened by 2 weeks, and usually begin walking a bit by 2 weeks of age, mine started scooting and crawling like day 2, but they really began walking and playing by 3 weeks of age. It all depends on nature and how healthy and strong they are. The mother should let you touch the kittens right away if she's comfortable with you (the cat I had I got only a few weeks before giving birth and she wouldn't let me leave her side, I had to help her with the birthing process, and we did lose a kitten, so she let me pet and cuddle and hold them like as they were born). It all depends on her. As for genders, I could tell mine a few weeks after birth. MOSTLY all orange/white striped kittens are male, it's rare (so i've heard) for a female to be orange/white. Ive seen beige/white striped females though. And the marked one could be either. I know Calico are usually female (just like mentioned above situation), but as I said, you can never be 100% sure that way... Just do some reaserch on what the back ends look like, my kittens had prodominent testicles from what I could tell. Also compare them all... You may have all males. I know Males have more length between their butt and genitals then females. If you need any more info let me know. Good Luck :)

One on my miniature hampsers is squeaking and panting?

i have two 11 month old miniature hamsters (not sure what breed but there both white underneath with grey/creme/brown bits on top, and there quite short and fat) and one's fur looks kind of sweaty and its squeaking constantly now (which started a week ago, when it squeaked constantly for 10 minutes on and off) and looks like its panting or heart beating very obviously and fast. the other hampsters fur looks abit sweaty but isnt squeaking or panting atall. weve just had a heatwave and i tried to keep their cage as cool as possible but it must have been quite hot in there still as i was attending to my other animals and couldnt sit with hampsters all day! what could be worng with him, is he dying?

If you notice that in the housing part of the hutch, there will be a nest getting built. Don't touch the nest, she will only have to pull more hair out of her chest. I hope I have helped. If you're from the south, the smaller greys are scared of eagle, a small solar powered mp3 player connected to a loud speaker, continually playing a screeching eagle will keep them away, but won't solve the overall tick problem.

I think that it is definitely possible that she is still pure husky but has floppy ears. There may be just some chance with the genetics that a husky will have floppy ears, even though most have erect ears. Also, some puppies may have floppy ears and grow out of it. Cat's skin has turned black?

Allergic to my pets!?

First off what you need to realize is that not everyone will attend a destination wedding. It is just not plausible for some people. Some people do not want to travel more than say an hour to get to a wedding and that is just how it is. Just because it is your day and means the world to you it does not mean the world to everyone except maybe your mother and father. I for one would not travel more than 2 hours to attend a wedding and it would have to be a very close family member for me to travel those two hours. My cat Sammi Sam has a gash in his cheek ive treated it now what do i do?

My outdoor adult male cat came home a few days ago with his left cheek fur pressed down, I figured he had just rubbed up against something sticky and it pressed his fur down (wouldn't be the first time). 2 days ago we noticed a horrible smell and traced it to his cheek, after further searching we found a gash so we cleaned it out. TOnight when we cleaned it out a lot of gooey white stuff came out of it, we got as much out of it as we could and put some neosporin. It's large enough to fit a q-tip into ( i didn't put one into it just an estimate.) He's not acting like it hurts, still running around jumping and loving his eating hasn't changed or anything. I'm just worried.... is there something more I should be doing? Please help.

Cat is losing weight although he eats well?

My 11YO male cat has been losing weight since January. Blood work done reveals a very healthy animal! He has also been licking fur off and is bald on various parts of his body. He's active, alert, rambunctious...normal...but looks so skinny. Vet has done check up and everything seems normal. He may have a food allergy; vet says if he's not bleeding from the licking of fur we can leave him be...he does not recommend cortisone to relieve. He also urinates occasionally over the side of litter box. Kidneys are good. We have another cat, male. They've been friends for seven years.

I just adopted a stray cat out of my yard. I took her to the vet and found out she has ear mites, roundworms, and fleas. My vet put Advantage Multi on her to treat, and gave me a tube to put on my resident cat to make she doesn't get anything from the newbie. I've never done it before, and when I put it on, I got down to the skin like you're supposed to, but some of it dripped down her fur. I wiped that off with a dry tissue, but then she licked the spot where it had run down her. Obviously, it tasted bad, and I haven't seen her lick the area anymore. Should I apply another dose, or did she get enough? (I don't know how much actually stayed on her and how much ran off.)

My cat has a weird problem with digging at himself?

My cat is about 5 or 6 and he's digging at himself. He's been doing this since about 3-4 months ago. Back around that time, my people would scratch his back/tailbone and he'd lick the air. Now it's around his shoulder bones and his sides. He's digging at his skin and there's a lot of fur coming out and getting onto his claws. I've checked for fleas on him, and all I seen was a little bit of flea waste. It's not very noticeable, but I'm really worried about him. He HAS been around one cat with feline leukemia, but that cat got put down by one of my neighbors, and I don't think my cat and that cat made contact. My family is really too poor to take him to the vet and get him checked, and I highly doubt that he's up to date on all his shots. I've lived in both cities, and currently live in Toronto. I like Toronto because I am biased. Toronto is a lot less expensive than London. However, if you really want a new experience--go to London--the history is amazing, and it's unlike our large North American cities. The benefits of Toronto is that is is half the price, you can drive here, and there is lots to see and do. London, for her culture and history--tough call.

Well, if you get a daily newspaper you could shred that and use it, but you would need to clean the cage often (especially since it's an aquarium) probably 2-3 times a week. Cloth or fleece can work but needs to be changed out every other day, also some rats will rip it up an use it in their beds. Carpet does not work because it absorbs urine and can't be washed. By shelves do you mean shelf cages? If yes than I have read they do very well, and apparently don't chew through the wood. But you must put lino or fleece or towels or something on the wood.
